How every interview works

The homework first. Then management answers for it.

  1. Before the call · Sean

    The due diligence

SEC and SEDAR+ filings, press releases, the company website and investor presentations, filtered down to the questions that matter and a read on the investment timeline.

  2. On the call · management

    The live interview

Management makes its case on video or audio. Sean presses on what his diligence turned up.

  3. At the end · you

    Your questions

Submit questions during the call, and Sean answers them at the end. Your replay stays open for 90 days.

HurdleCalls is paid by investors, not by the companies we interview.

Two kinds of call

Scheduled interviews, and calls when the news needs answers.

Video or audio · replay included

Management interviews

The CEO on vision and what the team is working to accomplish, the CFO on the balance sheet, or several executives together. Sean then presses on the questions his diligence turned up.

Fact-finding calls

When a company's press release raises questions, HurdleCalls reaches out to the company and sets up a call to get the facts.

Who you'll hear from

The people who run the company, chosen for the question at hand.

CEOThe vision and the priorities for the next year.
CFOThe balance sheet, cash runway and dilution.
ChairmanGovernance, the board and capital allocation.
COOOperations, execution and the milestones ahead.
CMOCustomers, demand and the growth plan.
Guest investorSometimes an investor who knows the company well joins Sean to drill down.

Where we look

Mostly under $300M, where analysts rarely go.

MicroCaps get little or no analyst coverage, and most investors never hear management make their case. At this size, high conviction comes from doing the work yourself.

All questions

Who will be on the call?

It depends on the company and the topic. A CFO call stays focused on the balance sheet. A CEO call covers the vision and what the team is working to accomplish. Some calls bring the CEO and CFO together, or include the Chairman, COO or CMO. Sean sometimes invites another investor who knows the company well to help drill down.

Can I ask management questions directly?

No. Submit your questions in the Q&A box during the call, and Sean answers them at the end.

Do companies pay to be interviewed?

No. HurdleCalls is funded by the investors who book calls. Companies don't pay us to appear, and they don't approve Sean's questions.

Is this investment advice?

No. Calls are for information only. Nothing said on a call is advice or an offer to buy or sell any security. Do your own work and talk to your own advisor.

What if I can't make it live?

Your replay stays open for 90 days after the call. A spot isn't refunded once the call has happened, except under the first-call guarantee.

Can my team join?

Yes. Add each person from your account, and each gets a personal join link.

Why credits and not a subscription?

You pay for the calls you attend and nothing renews. Every price is shown upfront, and your first call is guaranteed.

Hear management make its case, then get your questions answered.

Not investment advice. Calls are for information only.
